Disclaimer

Timber is a natural product, colour, grain and knots vary between pieces, batches and photos shown. Timber, laminate and hybrid flooring may show 5–8% batch colour variation, partly due to studio lighting and screen settings. Wood may expand, contract or crack with humidity changes that are natural traits, not defects.

Bring the warmth and character of genuine European Oak into your home with our Valley Engineered Timber 15mm flooring range. Built with a durable 4mm oak veneer over an engineered core, this floor is designed specifically to handle Australia's climate swings from humid coastal summers to dry inland winters without the cupping or movement issues solid timber can suffer from. Finished with a soft 5 to 8% matt finish and a micro bevel edge, it delivers the on-trend, natural "raw timber" look that's dominating Australian renovations and new builds right now.

WHY CHOOSE VALLEY ENGINEERED TIMBER 15MM

  • Genuine European Oak veneer: real timber grain, not a laminate print
  • Floating or direct stick installation: flexible for concrete slabs, timber subfloors and apartments
  • Quiet, comfortable underfoot: engineered construction dampens sound, ideal for multi-level Australian homes
  • Climate-stable: 8 to 10% moisture content, engineered to resist the expansion and contraction common in Australian conditions
  • Low-maintenance matt finish: hides everyday scuffs and footprints better than high-gloss finishes
  • Natural grade variation: ABCD grading gives each room genuine, characterful timber variation rather than a uniform, artificial look

The Tongue and Groove profile makes this range suited to both direct stick and floating floor installation, floating is the preferred method for a quieter, more comfortable finished floor, particularly in apartments and upper-storey rooms. As with all engineered oak flooring, allow boards to acclimatise to room conditions before installation, and note each box may contain up to 25% random short boards, which is standard for genuine engineered European Oak and helps achieve a natural, non-repetitive layout.

PERFECT FOR

Living areas, open-plan kitchens, hallways and bedrooms across Australian homes, whether you're renovating an existing property or flooring a new build, Valley Engineered Timber 15mm suits both period homes and contemporary designs.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is engineered oak flooring suitable for the Australian climate? Yes. The engineered core construction resists the expansion and contraction that solid timber can experience with Australia's seasonal humidity changes, making it a more stable choice than solid oak in most Australian homes.

Can this floor be floated or does it need to be glued down? Both the Tongue and Groove profile supports either a floating installation or direct stick, giving you flexibility depending on your subfloor.

What does ABCD grade mean? ABCD grading allows for natural variation in colour, grain and character across boards, giving a genuine, characterful timber floor rather than a uniform, mass-produced look.

Engineered Timber

  • Real hardwood veneer (2–6mm) bonded to a stable plywood core
  • Looks, feels and sounds like solid hardwood
  • More dimensionally stable through humidity and temperature changes
  • Can go over concrete slabs and in-slab hydronic heating
  • Can be sanded and refinished over its life

Laminate

  • A high-resolution photographic layer of timber, stone or tile under a protective wear layer — no real timber
  • Click-lock system that floats over the sub-floor
  • One of the most DIY-friendly floors to install
  • Not suitable for wet areas; cannot be sanded or refinished
  • Excellent value with increasingly realistic finishes

Hybrid

  • Rigid SPC/WPC core with a printed decorative layer
  • 100% waterproof — suitable for bathrooms, laundries and in-slab heating
  • Pre-attached underlay; no separate vapour barrier needed in most installs
  • Low-maintenance and highly stain-resistant
  • Cannot be sanded or refinished, but rarely needs it

Patterns

  • Straight Planks — classic parallel layout, boards run in one direction
  • Herringbone — boards laid at 90°, interlocking in a zig-zag for a structured look
  • Chevron — boards angled and joined point-to-point for a seamless V pattern
